Performances

Twice a year Mrs. Harm’s studio holds a recital: this is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop performance skills and to showcase all their hard work for friends and family. These events are usually held in April/May and December.

Christmas
Since many students begin lessons in the summer or fall, this is often their first performance, so we keep this time small and relaxed. Our Christmas event is as much a party as a recital: there are games, lots of food, decorations, prizes, and of course- tons of Christmas music! Everyone picks one or two of their favorite holiday songs to perform, with some duets and caroling thrown in to keep things lively. Students always enjoy this event: only immediate family participate so that we have a cozy, intimate crowd and can make this time more interactive. Usually this recital is held at the First Church of the Nazarene in south KC near Leawood.

Spring
This performance is held on a weekend in April or May toward the end of the school year. Students are permitted to select one or two of their favorite pieces to memorize for the occasion; they are welcome to invite friends and family to attend the performance. This recital is a bit more formal with programs and dressy attire; a great taste of what it is like to be on stage. These events are held at Schmitt Music in Overland Park.
